Reflections for the Week: Hope
If things are going your way at the moment, you might feel that hope doesn’t really come in to it. But when we experience those life changing moments that bring us to our knees, then being hopeful may be all we have.
Find a peaceful place where you won’t be disturbed for a couple of minutes. Bring your attention to your breath and notice how you’re breathing right now. Continue to breathe slowly and gently as you consider the word ‘Hope’ in your practice.
Say the word ‘Hope’ in your mind as if using it as a mantra and notice what feelings, thoughts and sensations arise. As you become aware of your thoughts, and what you’re hopeful for, simply notice those and release them again by bringing your attention back to your breath. Return to your day when you’re ready, noting in your meditation journal anything which comes up to reflect upon later.
